Timothy Friedman, a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of British Columbia, is investigating the mechanisms through which DNA enables repair after injury in peripheral nerves but not the brain or spinal cord. A better understanding of these mechanisms in peripheral nerves may shed insight on targeted repair following brain and/ or spinal cord injury. Timothy Friedman used the Dr. Hubert van Tol Travel Fellowship to attend the Gordon Research Conference – Central Nervous System Injury and Repair in Lucca, Italy.
